Kalk Bay Harbour is a charming brightly coloured fishing harbour in the heart of the equally quaint town of Kalk Bay. Experienced local anglers take to the fishing waters with line, net and determination and return daily around lunchtime with a fresh catch for you to buy at cheerful prices. If you can’t catch your dinner you may as well choose it and have it beheaded, scaled, de-gutted and filleted by a quirky expert (do your bartering before anyone picks up a knife). Take it home and try it simple and delicious on a rustic braai (barbecue), South African style with a local beer or wine. If you’re feeling adventurous pick up a local recipe book and try a traditional potato salad side.

The Cullinan Diamond Mine is renowned as a source of large, high-quality gem diamonds, including Type II stones, as well as being the world’s most important source of very rare blue diamonds. Cullinan earned its place in history with the discovery of the Cullinan diamond in 1905, the largest rough gem diamond ever found at 3,106 carats, which was cut to form the two most important diamonds in the British Crown Jewels.

Ford’s look was modernized for 1939 — the Deluxe used a low pointed grille with heavier vertical slats, while the standard Ford had a higher grille with horizontal dividers. The headlights were moved farther apart, sitting almost in front of the wheels. The side grilles and louvers were removed in favor of chrome strips on Deluxe models. The “alligator” hood opened deep from the top of the grille back, eliminating the side panels found on previous models.
